Pittsburgh Fire Fighters, IAFF Local 1 proudly represents the dedicated men and women of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, continuing a legacy of bravery, service, and commitment to public safety. As the very first chartered local of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), our union has been at the forefront of firefighter advocacy since 1918.

Our members are more than just first responders—they are highly trained professionals who put their lives on the line to protect the residents, businesses, and visitors of Pittsburgh. We respond to fires, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescues, and more, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community 24/7, 365 days a year.

At IAFF Local 1, we stand united in our mission to support and protect our firefighters and their families. We advocate for safe working conditions, fair wages, and the necessary resources to perform our duties effectively. Through collective bargaining, community outreach, and ongoing training, we strive to uphold the highest standards of firefighting excellence.

Beyond emergency response, our members are deeply involved in charitable initiatives, fire prevention education, and public service programs that make Pittsburgh a safer place to live and work. From supporting burn victims to organizing community events, our commitment extends far beyond the fireground.

As IAFF Local 1, we are honored to serve the great city of Pittsburgh with strength, courage, and brotherhood—because when disaster strikes, we are the ones running toward the danger to keep our community safe.
